The Big Day of Giving

Winters Farm to School will participate this year in the Big Day of Giving (BDOG) to be held on Thursday, May 4th. BDOG is a 24-hour online fundraising event for regional non-profit organizations.

Left to right: Waggoner first-graders, Arely Figueroa, Ava Estepa, Sylvia Mattson, Jayde Mathias, Jillian Ries, Natalie Morris, Emma Glaudel share their enthusiasm for Winters Farm to School participating in this year's Big Day of Giving ... supporting "local foods for local kids."

BDOG funds raised for Winters Farm to School will be used for three programs. First, donations will be used to purchase fresh foods from Yolo County farmers for our school district's meal programs; second, funds will help support the Kids Farmers Market which provides around 10 pounds of local fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains to over 170 children per week; and third, seeds, trees, benches and irrigation supplies will be purchased for the gardens at both Waggoner and Rominger Schools. Winters Farm to School is an all-volunteer organization, so all of the monies raised will go directly toward these three important programs.

Those wishing to donate to Winters Farm to School can participate in BDOG by going online to bigdayofgiving.org/wintersfarmtoschool. Donations can be scheduled in advance by going online now or by donating on the actual Big Day of Giving, May 4th.

Minimum bids are $15. Every donation boosts our children's health and well-being and supports our local farmers too!
