As fall is in the air and as the school year begins there is something that is new at the Shirley Rominger Intm School. It has been quite a while in the making with a lot of planning and a lot of hard work by a number of individuals but the Farm to School project is finally here. On Sunday October 14th there was a work day scheduled where 9 volunteers showed up to help construct and install raised planter beds. There were a total of 5 redwood raised beds installed with gopher wire applied to the bottom,( hoping to help keep those pesky varmints’ out) and caps on the top of the bed. The next phase of the project will be to add in dirt, irrigation systems and some almond hulls that will be laid down between the boxes which will work as walking pathways. Then of course the best is saved for last and that will be the planting of the garden itself. Here are a couple of the pictures of the work in progress and the individuals that helped.

We would like to thank the following volunteers, Dna Hoover, Matt Lechmaiser, Reid Bryson, Ryan Davis, Patty Rominger, Rick Rominger, Shaunna Ludwig, Tom and Charlotee Kimball. Volunteers included Farm to School and Yolo County Master Gardeners.
